Mr. Rem’s SGI Life Science Requirements


1. Students will choose a living organism/life science topic to become an expert about. Your topic will need to be approved by the teacher by the assigned approval date.

2. Students will create a lesson that will include a required number of media pieces about a topic of their choice and teach their lesson presenting their required number of media pieces to 2 or 3 different randomly selected peers, who must score you using the provided rubric from the teacher. Teacher may make substitutions if students are absent on evaluation/presentation days

3. Their lesson must include:
a. An essential question about the organism or topic they are focusing on
b. Name of the organism or topic
c. A picture with labels or caption of the organism or visual
representation of main topic this must be included in one of their media pieces
d. The utilization/incorporation of assigned number of
media/learning resources.
Note teacher will assign your color for the amount of creative media you must include-
(Green- 4 or more, Yellow- 3 or more, Red- 2 or more)
e. You must teach a minimum of five key vocabulary words in all
students lessons (you cannot achieve the highest score by only
including 5 words see attached rubric)
f. You are encouraged to also include: special features or
characteristics, trivia, current events or interesting facts about the
organism or topic chosen

4. Students will use the lesson model below to create their lesson
